Michael Frederick Otoole ’71

Michael Toole died on Aug. 15, 1988, after a long illness. Michael came to Princeton from Syracuse, N.Y., where he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy. A sociology major and editorial editor of the Princetonian, he went on to study law at Penn. He later became a partner in the firm of Robinson, Silverman, Pearce, Aronsohn & Berman in N.Y.C., where he practiced labor law. He was attracted to this field by the prospect of a career fighting for the rights of working people. His college friends and professional colleagues remember him as an extraordinarily caring, sensitive, and loving person with a creative mind.

Michael was a fun-loving and witty soul who remained consistently and totally without pretense. He loved his work, his life in N.Y.C., and the enormously varied set of people in his world. He was a loyal and loving son, brother, and uncle, and was a godfather to children of his friends. He is survived by his father, Laurence J. Sr., of Syracuse; his sister, Rosemary O'Toole, her husband Christopher Young, and their son Jeremy, of New Ro¬chelle, N.Y.; his brother Laurence J. Jr., his wife Mary, and their children Conor and Kathleen, of Auburn, Ala.; and his friend Ronald E. Scipio, of N.Y.C.
