Mike died in New York City Dec. 26, 2024. He was a devoted Catholic and known to his family and friends as a rock of determination, humanity, and faith.

Mike came to Princeton from Mullen High School in Denver, where he was the salutatorian. He participated in the Student Volunteers Council and the Aquinas Institute and was a member of Wilson College. He majored in mathematics and roomed with Joe Ciofalo ’73, Douglas Rohn, and Dane Zabriskie.

Mike earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and taught at Northwestern University in the Department of Economics before leaving for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. He then joined JPMorgan as vice president of global and emerging markets. He was a visiting professor in economics at Royal Holloway University of London.

Mike’s wife, Michelle Lamarche Marrese, died in 2016. He is survived by his brother Thomas and his wife Andrea; his sister Valerie and her husband Marshall Pearson; and numerous relatives and godchildren, to whom the class extends its sympathy.
