Middleton G. C. Train ’34

Body

MIDDLETON GEORGE CHARLES "MIDDY" TRAIN, former class president and class agent, died of respiratory failure at his Manchester, N.H., summer home July 6, 1994. One of our most engaging and popular members, he prepared at Choate. As an undergraduate, he was on the fencing team and in Quadrangle Club. He lived in Washington, D.C., most of his life and was v.p. of his family's real-estate firm. He also was a director of Children's Hospital and of the Metropolitan Club. In WWII, he served as an admiral's aide, including service on the Princeton.

Middy's devotion and service to Princeton were legendary, especially in maintaining his private Washington office as a virtual university branch for fund-raising, alumni contacts, and information. He was a longtime director of the local Princeton Club. His chief hobbies were duck-hunting and golf.

Last spring, Middy and Audry Campbell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are two children, Alexandra C. Totten and Middleton R. L.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Russell E. '41. To the family, we extend profound sympathy.
