Milton S. Dillon Jr. ’41

Body

SANDY'S HEART FAILED in a New Jersey Veterans hospital Mar. 19, 1994. He had languished there for 15 years following a tragic accident in his Bernardsville home. A subsequent pulmonary embolism left him with the use of only one of his hands. But his widow, Gina, and classmates who visited him, say that Sandy’s spirit never flagged.

A large man with great strength and agility, those with him at The Hil1 School will recall that Sandy and Don Robertson used to race each other up the first form's dormitory staircase standing on their hands! And we all remember him as our freshman heavyweight Cane Spree champ. He followed his father (who was Class of ‘17) to Princeton, where he was a geology major and a shotputter. He also joined Cap and Gown, and roomed with Bob Snowden. Fol1owing military service, he worked at investment banking in N.Y.C. We remember him best as a gentle man of infinite kindness to all who knew him.

Sandy is survived by his widow, Virginia Finlay; brother Sidney G. '46; Sons Milton S. III '70, Roy Forrest, and Robert H.; daughters Kathleen D. Bolton, Virginia Anne D. Gallagher, and Margaret B.; Moyer stepsons Peter F. '69, David B. Jr., and Timothy; stepdaughter Mrs. Peter (Katherine) Kissel; and 17 grandchildren. We join our grief with all of theirs.
