He was active in The Princeton Engineer and Hillel. He was an officer at Key and Seal and lived at 123 Walker his senior year.

After graduating, Mort received a medical degree from Duke Medical School, with postgraduate training in pathology at Duke Medical Hospital and the University of Chicago. He joined the U.S. Public Health Service, where he conducted research for eight years before being recruited to join the Air Force. He spent 14 years stationed at Andrews Air Force Base before retiring as a full colonel in 2003. After mustering out, he spent another 11 years in various teaching and administrative positions at Florida Atlantic University. He was an active member of the College of American Pathologists and eventually joined its Board of Governors. After retiring a third time to Wilmington, Mort joined the Cape Fear Men’s Club, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of like-minded individuals and eventually became a board member.

The class extends its deepest sympathies to Mort’s wife, Cindy; his three daughters; four grandchildren; and his extended family and friends.
