Muneyori Terashima ’35

MUNEYORI TERASHIMA PASSED away Apr. 7, 1993, in Tokyo. When he joined our class in Sept. 1931, he was Count Muneyori Terashima, a Mitsui Count. Yori, as we called him, was born Oct. 6, 1910, in Tokyo. He prepared at Lawrenceville School, where he was on the publications board. At Princeton, he majored in politics. He was on the business staff of THE PRINCETON TIGER all four years. He was a member of the chess club and of Ivy. He lived alone at IB Hamilton. His parents were Seiichro Terashima and Kio Mitsui. His father went to the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the House of Peers and director of the Mitsui Trust Co. Yori was president of the ExportImport Co., Taihei Tusho, Ltd.

Interestingly, Yori rebuilt the Peers Club in Tokyo, replacing it with a skyscraper. He saved a few floors for the Peers Club. The other floors were rented out to produce income to educate the children of indigent peers.

Yori married Masako Hosokawa in 1940. They had three children, Sachiko, a daughter; Munehisa, a son; and Fumiko, another daughter. To them all, the class extends its deepest sympathy.
