Murray died Jan. 31, 2018, at the age of 27.

The son of missionaries, Murray spent his life exploring the world. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and grew up in Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. His travels made him endlessly curious and generous toward others. One needed only to see his wide grin to understand his enthusiasm for life.

Murray entered Princeton in 2010 but took time off after a serious rugby injury. When he returned, he lived near Christian Edwards ’16, who became his close friend. They met when Christian got locked out of his room after taking a shower, and he desperately knocked on nearby doors. Murray answered, gave Christian clothes, and offered him a place to sleep.

Murray studied in the Woodrow Wilson School and was especially fascinated by technology policy. Outside of class, he was involved in WPRB and shared VIP concert tickets with friends, studied electronic music and meditation, and was treasurer of the 2D co-op and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

Murray took another leave of absence during his junior-year fall semester in 2015. Before his passing, he was working in Pittsburgh at a business-solutions company, assisting with software development.

Murray is survived by his parents, sister Allison, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Donations in his honor can be made to NAMI Virginia (National Alliance on Mental Illness) at https://namivirginia.org/.
