MYOUNG JOON OAK died suddenly of a heart attack Nov. 17, 1992, in Seoul, at the age of 45. Prof. Oak, born in Korea on Oct. 27, 1947, graduated from Seoul National Univ. in 1970 with a degree in chemical engineering. He earned his master's degree in the same subject in 1974, also in Korea. He came to the U.S. and spent two years (19751977) on the faculty at Auburn Univ. in Alabama. Princeton Univ. and the Textile Research Institute were his sites of activity from 1977 to 1981. He received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton. He spent the next 11 years with Gulf Oil Co. in Pittsburgh and Amoco Production Co. in Tulsa. During the summer of 1992, he returned to Seoul and was appointed to the rank of professor at the Korean Academy of Technology. He is survived by his widow, a son, and a daughter. We extend to Mrs. Oak and the children our heartfelt sympathy in Prof. Oak's death at so early an age.
