Nathaniel B. Abbott ’32

Body

OUR POPULAR honorary member Nat Abbott died Feb. 2, 1994, at Crouse Memorial Hospital in Syracuse, after a brief illness.

Although Nat graduated from Trinity Hartford in 1932, where he also received an M.A. in 1933, he was elected an honorary member of our class in 1974, and thereafter was one of our most loyal and enthusiastic classmates.

In 1933, Nat joined the faculty of Millbrook (N.Y.) School. There he held various teaching and administrative positions, including Latin and music teacher, baseball coach, director of the glee club, director of admissions, director of college guidance, and acting headmaster. Upon his retirement in 1968, he became assistant director of admission at Princeton until 1976. From then until 1984, he was a college counselor at the Lawrenceville School. In the past few years, he lived at the Nottingham Retirement Community in Syracuse.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clara; two sons, Paul and Donald; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Elkins; six grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. To all of them, the class extends its sincere condolences.
