Nathaniel John Brooks ’39

Body

JOHN DIED Jan. 24, 1990, at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, not far from his home in Cornwall. He and his wife, Adelaide, had retired there in 1983 at the end of his 30 years as an administrative engineer in the aerospace industry on Long Island.

John's career began in 1950 with his work as a project writer for the Republic Aviation Corp. During the war John started with the infantry, transferred to the Signal Corps, and ended his service in Berlin, working in the State Department code room.

Of his retirement John said he seemed to spend a lot of time taking care of a house and ten Vermont acres. It must have suited him, because when his former roommate Art Silvers paid him a visit a year ago, he found him looking just great. He also had time to pursue his interest in antique cars and American clocks.

When John wrote to us last year, he said his hope for the future was a lot more years. Sadly that was not to be. To Adelaide and their daughters Barbara and Julia we extend our deep sympathy.
