NELSON GILBERT LOFSTEDT *50, age 59, died Oct. 29, 1981. He was born Sept. 1, 1922, in West Chelmsford, Mass., but spent most of his formative years in Brattleboro, Vt. In 1947 he graduated from Wesleyan Univ., in Middletown, Conn., with a bachelor's degree in English. Subsequently Wesleyan also awarded him a master's degree. He came to Princeton and received a second master's degree in English in 1950. There followed a twoyear teaching assignment at Kalamazoo College in Michigan' In 1952 he undertook a courageous change of career and joined the prestigious advertising firm of Batten, Barton, Durstein and Osborne, where he worked for 20 years. The year 1972 saw him relocate to another major advertising company, Humphrey, Brown, and McDougall, where he remained until his death. He and his wife, Caroline, had one daughter, Kristen. To Mrs. Lofstedt, their daughter, and their many friends we extend our sympathies.
