NICK DIED Nov. 22, 1993. He prepared for college at Atlanta Technological H.S. At Princeton, he played in the university orchestra and the band. He received a law degree from Harvard.

Nick's war service was outstanding. He was a parachutist and staff judge advocate of the 82nd airborne division, and became staff judge advocate of U.S. headquarters in Berlin. He left the army as a colonel with a bronze star, three campaign stars, and the Dutch and Belgian Fourrrageres, Legion of Merit, and U.S. commendation. As an air force reserve officer, he was a brigadier general and deputy commander of the air force reserve region at Andrews Air Force Base.

After the war, he was deeply involved in the transfer of functions from the army to the newly created air force. From 1951, he was, for three years, deputy assistant secretary of commerce for international affairs. In 1953, he joined a Washington firm, Armour, Harris, Kneipple & Allen, and continued practice until 1987.

He was an active member of Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ, and was an organizer of the LincolnWestmoreland housing project. In 1938, he married Adelaide Whitford, and she survives, as well as their children, Sandra White and Susanne Sotirchos; and a sister, Eugeni Castle. The class extends sincere sympathy to Nick's family.
