Nicholas John Rainone ’48

Nick Rainone, a nearly 60-year resident of Clifton, N.J,. died Nov. 20, 2009. He was 86.  

Nick was a graduate of Central High School in Scranton, Pa., and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. At Princeton he played varsity baseball and was a member of Prospect. He graduated in 1948 with honors in electrical engineering.

Nick joined Westinghouse Electric Corp. immediately after graduation. At the time of his retirement in 1983, after 35 years with Westinghouse, he was manager of the photo lamp engineering department. He was responsible for the development of numerous patented inventions and technical developments, and contributed to the technical  

literature.

Nick was active for many years on the Princeton Schools Committee and also served on 1948’s executive committee.

He is survived by his son, David, and David’s wife, Siri, of York, Pa. Nick was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Cooper.
