Norman Hale Blake Jr. ’41

Body

NORM BLAKE died Jan. 31, 1990, suffering a heart attack while snorkeling off Hillsboro Beach in Florida.

Norman came to Princeton from the Hill School, majored in chemical engineering, and was a member of Elm Club. After graduation he was employed by Merck until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was sent to Memphis. There he met his future wife, Corinne Burch. After discharge with the rank of lieutenant, he became an investment broker. He later became a partner with Merrill Lynch, where he stayed until his retirement in 1988. He continued his lifelong hobby of stamp collecting, and enjoyed traveling, tennis, and shelling.

Norm was a communicant of Memphis's Calvary Episcopal Church, where he served as a vestryman for many years. A loyal Princetonian, he was a former president of the Memphis Alumni Assn. and a generous, active member of our Class.

He is survived by his widow, Corinne; two daughters, Barbara Baine and Corinne Adrian; a son, Norman H. Blake III; six grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Waples. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all of them.
