Oian Vance Carnahan ’38

VANCE CARNAHAN DIED Dec. 18, 1990, in Charleston, W.Va. of complications following surgery. He was visiting his motherinlaw at the time. He had lived in Warminster, Penn. for many years, working for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board.

A graduate of Mt. Hermon School, Vance was with us only for freshman year. He worked his way up to the position of bank examiner with Federal Loan & Savings Bannk in N.Y.C., then moved to the branch in Long Branch, N.Y. Later he became examiner for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in Pittsburgh for all of Pennsylvania and part of West Virginia. He moved to the Philadelphia area in 1962 and retired in 1976.

Vance's principal hobby was solving logic problems, which stood him in good stead in his work.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann, whom he married in 1967; sons Vance Jr. and Terry and daughter Sherri Crowder; and stepsons Thomas H. and Michael B. Nestor. His brother, Rand G. Carnahan '41, died six weeks later. They have our sincere sympathy.
