Oscar W. Miller Jr. ’34

Body

OSCAR WINSTON "WIN" MILLER died June 21, 1994. He wrote 35 screenplays and produced more than 100 TV shows before he retired in 1975. For nearly 40 years, he was a trustee and board member of the Motion Picture & Television Hospital & Health Center. He served 12 years on the Beverly Hills City Planning Commission and 10 years as a board member of Recording for the Blind.

Win got his first job as a screenwriter for the Hal Roach Studio in 1936 and, in his words, "kept doing it, with time out for 2 ½ years in the Marine Corps, until 1960 when, deciding chat TV was here to stay, I became a writer-producer in that medium."

In 1938, Win married Beatrix Busch (Bryn Mawr '34 and the sister of Noel Busch '29). Bea survives, as do her and Win's two daughters, Christine and Noelle. Also surviving is Win's sister, Patsy Ruth, a silent screen scar. To them, we offer our sympathies.
