OUR OTTO departed this troubled world June 17, 1992, from a vital, productive, and interesting life. He was born in Chicago on Oct. 18, 1902, the son of' a piano maker. He prepared for college at Princeton Preparatory School, and spoke German as a child. At Princeton, Otto studied German and French,

After college, Otto became the president of the American Typewriter Company in Chicago. During WWII, his firm built the G1 Dead Reckoning Navigation Trainer for the Air Force. Otto also served as president of the M. Schulz Company, a realty holding firm, and throughout his career he was well known for his administrative skills, especially in decisionmaking and dealing with people.

Jane Lawrence became his bride in Chicago in Nov. 1934. Throughout his life, Otto's prime interest and true hobby was his family. There were six children: Barbara, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Peter, David, and James '59. The Class of 1923 takes great pride in the life of Otto.
