Owen M. Palmer ’39

Body

OWEN DIED of congestive heart failure Jan. 2, 1993, at his home in Naples, Fla. He died as he had wished, quietly at home, with his wife, Eva, nearby.

Owen was a B-17 pilot during WWII, flying with the Eighth Air Force in the E.T.O. He was awarded the Air Medal. In 1944, he and Eva married in L.A., and they settled in California.

After a variety of jobs, he became an importer of Orienral art and accessories, which occupied him happily until he retired in 1972. After retiring, he and Eva moved to Florida.

Owen's years in the import business required lots of travel, which both be and Eva thoroughly enjoyed. In 1975, he had open-heart surgery, from which he made an excellent recovery. He remained active, enjoying the outdoor life on the Gulf Coast and continuing to travel widely with Eva.

To Eva, we offer our deep sympathy.
