PATRICE JOHNSON *80 was killed in a plane crash in Aug. 1989. She was chief of staff for Rep. Mickey Leland (D. Tex.) and was accompanying the congressman on a flight from Addis Ababa to an Ethiopian refugee camp, when their plane crashed near the camp.

Patrice received an M.P.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School. She joined Leland's staff in Apr. 1987 and soon became his top aide. Before joining the congressman's staff, she was a national board member of the National Urban League and practiced law in Houston.
