PATTERSON HUMPHREY died July 6, 1994, in Aiken, S.C., where he had lived for the past 19 years. Death was from acute renal failure brought on by a congestive heart condition. He had been in poor health after being hit by a car in 1991 while out walking. Born in N.Y.C. in 1912, Pat prepared at Kent, came to Princeton, then went to Harvard Law. He served during WWII in the army engineers. He was admitted to the New York bar and worked for many years as employee-relations manager of Standard Brands, now Nabisco Brands. He retired to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1968, where he headed the Chamber of Commerce and later worked for Martin-Marietta. In 1976, he moved to Aiken, where he golfed, gardened, walked, and wrote several novels (none published so far). His wife, Elizabeth T., died in 1986; they had been married 44 years.

Survivors include a son, Robin S.; a daughter, Holden, who lived with him in Aiken; a sister, Mary H. Womersley; and his sister-in-law Frances (widow of Frank J. '31). Survivors also include four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The class sends its sympathy to all of them.
