Body

Paul died Jan. 23, 2016.

At Princeton, Paul played lacrosse and was awarded status as an All-Ivy attackman. He majored in political science and graduated in 1984.

Following graduation, Paul played lacrosse professionally in Adelaide, Australia. Upon returning to the United States, he enjoyed a 20-year career as a Yankee bond trader in New York City. Paul then embarked upon a second career, getting a master’s degree in education from Molloy (N.Y.) College.

At the time of his death, Paul was teaching A.P. economics and A.P. government at Eastside High School in Gainesville, Fla. Paul was renowned for his talent in sparking interest in the driest of topics. He utilized elements of pop culture, artistry, and commentary to stimulate and lay the groundwork for understanding subjects as varied as Watergate, the Rwandan genocide, the Supreme Court, and the mechanics of the financial markets.

As the head lacrosse coach at Eastside High School, Paul was greatly admired. For the three seasons Paul coached, the team went to districts three times in a row. Whether in the classroom or on the field, Paul was known as intelligent, honorable, kind, loving, positive, and strong.

The class extends its sympathy to Paul’s wife, Bernadette; siblings William, Peter, Jeannine, Mark, and Aileen; his in-laws, Doris and Donald Woolfenden; his sisters-in-law, Siobhan Sack and Judith Houlihan; and his 16 nieces and nephews.
