Peter Weil died peacefully at his home in Lafayette, Colo., Aug. 17, 2013.

Born in New York City, he attended the Horace Mann School. A chemistry major at Princeton, he was a member of Tower Club and the varsity soccer and fencing teams. After graduation, he spent six months in the Army.

His uncle encouraged him to enter law school, and he was accepted to Harvard Law School. He practiced law for more than 35 years, first at his father’s firm and then at Kaye Scholer, where he was a partner, head of the firm’s banking division, and its leading authority on asset-based lending.

Peter retired in 1995 and moved to Colorado, where he was active with the University of Colorado at Boulder College of Music and the Colorado Music Festival, of which he was a long-term board member. Peter was an accomplished pianist.

He is survived by Helen, his wife of 53 years; daughter Karen; son Frank; and three grandchildren. The class extends its condolences to them on their loss. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
