Peter Nomikos ’53

Peter was born in Athens, Greece, and came to Princeton after graduating from Taft School. He joined Key and Seal and majored in mechanical engineering. After graduating from Harvard Business School with an MBA in 1955, Peter co-founded the Thermo Electron Engineering Corp. with MIT professor George Hatsopoulos. Thermo Electron grew by its technologies and by mergers and acquisitions and was renamed Thermo Fisher. Thermo Fisher today is a Fortune 500 company focusing on life sciences. 

Peter was also active in the family business in maritime shipping and in archaeological excavations in Akrotiri, Santorini, Greece.

Peter died Sept. 1, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Theodora; their children Alexandra, Caroline, and Peter; and seven grandchildren.
