Pieter Fisher ’53

PIETER DIED of prostate cancer May 24, 1992, in Rutherford, Calif. He was born in Baltimore and graduated from the Episcopal H.S. At Princeton, Pieter majored in history, was secretary of Ivy Club, and joined the Advertising Forum. He served as an army artillery officer for two years after college, then went to business school at the Univ. of Virginia. In 1957, he then joined the advertising Firm of Young & Rubicam. In 1963, he moved to Goldman, Sachs, where he became a general partner. After retiring in 1986, he began a second career as a venture capitalist, which he continued until days before his death.

Pieter had a wide range of interests. He was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Pilgrims, and the FrenchAmerican Foundation; a director of the Volunteer Consulting Group in NYC and of the QuebecLabrador Foundation; and a member f the advisory council of the World Wildlife Fund.

The class sends its condolences to his mother, Katherine; his widow, Annie; and his children Ellen and Pieter Jr. With them, we mourn his passing.
