Prime F. Osborn IV ’64

Body

PRIME FRANCIS "CHUCK" OSBORN IV died Oct. 23, 1993, in New Orleans of complications due to AIDS. He was 51.

Chuck prepared at New Hanover H.S. in Louisville, Ky. At Princeton, Chuck majored in architecture and belonged to Quadrangle Club. He was a member of the Triangle Club, Whig-Clio, and St. Paul Society. Service to the community included Orange Key and teaching Sunday school at St. Barnabas.

After graduating cum laude, Chuck attended the Univ. of Florida and earned a bachelor of architecture degree in 1967. After getting his graduate degree, Chuck enlisted in the navy, attended O.C.S., and was commissioned in the navy's Civil Engineering Corps in 1968. After a long series of assignments in the U.S. and abroad, he retired from the navy in 1987, as a commander.

In New Orleans, Chuck restored a 19th-century Creole cottage and got involved in preservation efforts with the Fauborg-Marigny Improvement Assn. He also joined the real-estate firm of Latter and Blum, specializing in historic properties, and wrote a regular feature column, The Down Towner, for the TimesPicayune.

Family was important to Chuck. His sister, the Rev. Mary Ann Osborn, cared for Chuck the last year of his life. The class will miss his wit, charm, and affection for the class and the university. We extend our condolences to his sister and mother.
