R. Bruce Robertson ’65

Bruce Robertson died of prostate cancer Jan. 6, 2009.

At Princeton, he majored in economics, graduating with honors, and was a member of the varsity football team, ROTC, and his beloved Tiger Inn.

Following graduation, he was rapidly deployed to Vietnam, where he served bravely and was awarded multiple Purple Hearts, several medals of valor, and the Bronze Star.

Upon returning to the United States, Bruce married and entered Harvard Business School. After earning an MBA, he began a successful career in real estate, first in senior positions at Morgan Stanley and Dillon Read, and finally with his own company, Asia Pacific Real Estate.

Staying ahead of the curve, Bruce became focused in 1994 on Chinese real-estate development. One of his projects, the Shanghai Racquet Club, finished second only to the Beijing Olympic Village in the national “Competition of Masterpieces.” Bruce recently hosted the Princeton track team in Shanghai at the Racquet Club.  

Bruce’s daughter, Darcy ’07, followed in her father’s footsteps to Princeton, where she earned honors in the Woodrow Wilson School and was captain of the women’s tennis team.  

We are saddened by Bruce’s death and extend deepest sympathy to Darcy, and Bruce’s brothers, Tate and Bill ’61.
