Scott died April 13, 2024, at his home in San Francisco after a 16-month battle with leukemia.

He came to us from West Orange (N.J.) High School, where he was active in swimming and football. At Princeton, he was introduced to rugby and developed lifelong friendships with teammates Peter Lyon, Tom Newman, and Phil Mengel, who were part of his wedding party in 1978. Scott majored in philosophy and was a member of Cottage Club. Senior year he lived at 631 Cuyler Hall. His graduation followed that of relative Scott Scammell III ’41.

Following graduation, Scott earned a law degree from Georgetown Law Center and an LL.M. from University College, London. Returning to the United States, he joined the Department of Justice as an attorney in admiralty law. He retired from the DOJ as senior admiralty counsel.

In retirement, Scott loved swimming every day in San Francisco Bay, sailing his 36-footer in ocean waters, and walking his beloved Weimaraners.

The class extends its deepest sympathies to his wife, Jane; extended family; and friends.
