Rafael L. Montalvo ’70

Body

Rafael Luis Montalvo, M.D., died Nov. 11, 1994, when the helicopter he was piloting crashed in the Santa Clarita hills outside of L.A. Born in Puerto Rico, he moved to the U.S. mainland in 1952, joining our class from Brooklyn Technical H.S. At Princeton, he majored in sociology and was one of the founding members of Stevenson Hall. After graduation, he got a B.S. in engineering from U.C.L.A., then entered Yale Medical School, graduating in 1979.

His postgraduate years were spent in Miami; Jackson, Wyo.; Moscow, Idaho; and L.A. (where he was a respected anesthesiologist at CIGNA Hospital).

The class extends its sympathy to his family; his fiancée, Steffi Bormann; and his many friends at this loss. The class will honor his memory.
