Ralph N. Mould ’30

THE REVEREND DOCTOR RALPH N. MOULD died July 3, 1991, at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Conn., after a long illness. Ralph came to Princeton via Mercersburg Academy, completed three years and then left to work for a year, before receiving a B.A. from Oberlin College in 1931 and a bachelor of divinity degree from McCormick Theological Seminary. He was ordained into the United Presbyterian ministry in 1934. After serving as a pastor for 12 years, Ralph became a bureaucrat (as he told it) and never escaped, although he provided some pastoral duties in the Greenwich, Noroton, New Canaan areas of Connecticut after his retirement in 1973.

In 1946, Ralph joined the Board of Christian Education of the Presbyterian Church and served them until 1965 when he was named secretary general of the World Council of Christian Education in Geneva, Switzerland. Throughout his life he was active in causes of peace, disarmament, and international understanding and was a conscientious objector to military service during WWII.

Ralph's wife, Betty Ormsbee Mould, and a son, L. Murray Mould, predeceased him. He is survived by a daughter, Sybil (Mrs. Timothy) Martin; a son, Christopher M. '58; a sister, Mrs. Edwin Lillis; and six grandchildren. To them we extend our sincere condolences.
