Ralph W. Fawcett ’65

Prior to Princeton, where he was a member of Elm Club, he graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School in Glenville, N.Y. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Princeton, followed by a Ph.D. in applied physics from Yale and postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard and UCLA, where he worked in medical settings studying devices for implantation.  

Ralph received a medical degree from the National University of Ireland at Galway, and after completing his internship and residency, had a fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Md. Settling in Bowie, Md., he opened a private practice in psychiatry in which he was active at the time of his death.  

His principal avocations were sailing, spending time with his family, and international travel. According to his family, “He was passionate about mental health and always found the brain to be the most fascinating electrical machine of all.”  

Ralph is survived by his wife, Kari Holm, and their children, Erik and Kirstin. The class extends its sympathy to them on the loss of this fine classmate.
