Body

RANDALL LANIER BLOODSWORTH passed away May 27, 1994. He was a chemistry major, and came to Princeton from the Salisbury, Md., area. He was a member of Wilson College and was an independent during his upperclass years. President Shapiro awarded Randy's A.B. degree posthumously, as well as his numerous academic awards. Randy graduated magna cum laude in chemistry, and was elected to Sigma Xi and Phi Beta Kappa. He was awarded the Malcolm H. Chisholm Inorganic Chemistry Prize for the best thesis in that field. He had decided to do his Ph.D. work at M.I.T. In addition to his passion for the sciences, Randy was an avid audiophile, played the harp, bred finches and orchids in his spare time, lifted weights at the gym, and played tennis. He also pursued interests in the art of Salvador Dali and in antiques.

Randy never forgot to make time for his friends. He will be remembered as a warm, supportive, and genuinely kind person, whose happy, open laugh was expressive of his spontaneous and lively personality. He often said that his Princeton years were the happiest times of his life. He is survived by his father, Walter, and his older sister, Mary. Memorial donations may be sent to the Randall L. Bloodsworth Memorial Fund, c/o Recording Secretary, Box 140, Princeton, NJ 08544.
