Chico died June 22, 2009, in Santa Fe, N.M.  

He came to Princeton from Phillips Exeter Academy and majored in modern languages. He roomed with Rod McAlpin and joined Tiger Inn. He was on the freshman football team and earned his major letter on the varsity team sophomore year. However, Chico left Princeton toward the end of that year.

In January 1941, he married Frances Dell. During World War II, Chico joined the Navy and served in the Pacific theater. He was separated as lieutenant senior grade.

In 1946, Chico married Katherine Dryden, and in 1948 they moved to Santa Fe, where he joined General Pumice Corp., becoming owner and manager. In 1954, he married Mary Ellis Kane, who predeceased him.

Chico was a founding member of the Riva Club (squash) and was active in the Santa Fe Rotary Club.

Chico is survived by his children, Marion Payne Klickstein, Corinne Alley Nelson, and Peter Dryden Alley; and 10 grandchildren.
