Raymond Francis Gould ’30

HANK GOULD died Nov. 21, 1991, at the home of his son, the Rev, Glenn Gould of Huntersville, N.C., where he had moved the year before, after his second wife died at their retirement home in Vero Beach. He married Leonore Murphy in May 1935, but she died in Chapel Hill, N.C., ten years ago, while Ray was acquiring a Ph.D. in sociology from the Univ. of North Carolina, and also teaching and doing research in this field He later moved to Bethesda, to join the staff of the National institute of Health. He continued there for some 14 years before he returned to U.N C., as a social science teacher, and later retired to Vero Beach.

Ray was an excellent tennis player, winning many amateur championships. He spent 48 months in 'he Army Air Corps during WWII , seeing service in the continental U.S., Canada, and Alaska.

His survivors include several Princetonians: brothers Richard '38 and Robert '43; a nephew Christopher '76; his son Glenn; a daughter Barbara Brown; and four grandchildren. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Ray's family and many friends and share with them this loss of our talented classmate.
