Reg died peacefully Aug. 11, 2011, at home in Southwest Harbor, Maine. He was a regular at class affairs. We will miss him.

He prepared at St. Mark’s School in Southborough, Mass.. At Princeton, he majored in history, was on the 150-pound football team and class crew, was active in the Princeton Summer Camp, and joined Charter Club.

During World War II, as a lieutenant, he served in Army intelligence, ending with duty in occupied Japan. Reg received a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 1951.

His business career was in academics — teaching history and coaching hockey — first at St. Paul Academy in Minnesota, then at Middlesex School in Concord, Mass., and finally at Belmont School in Belmont, Mass.

During his regular summer retreats to his beloved Southwest Harbor, he helped found the Southwest Harbor Fleet. In addition to sailing, he was a lifelong golfer and ran an open-water regatta.
While at Southwest Harbor, Reg participated in community affairs, supporting numerous charitable organizations.

Predeceased by his wife, Joan (Reed) and son Reginald Jr. ’72, he is survived by his daughter, Kathy; sons Bill ’74 and Charlie; and eight grandchildren. To them, Reg’s classmates offer their deep sympathies.
