Remsen Eyk Ten Schenck ’34 *35

Body

REM SCHENCK passed away Mar. 1, 1992, after a long illness. He roomed with Ernie May at the Grad College for one year and then worked at Merck Research for two years. He then went to the Univ. of Chicago for a Ph.D. in organic chemistry. Ernie was completing his dissertation, and Rem assisted him; his dissertation was a followup of Ernie's.

During WWII, Rem served as a research chemist under Stagg Field in the Nuclear Bomb Project (Metallurgical Lab). He then went on to New York Univ. as an assistant professor of chemistry, and finally, for about 25 years, Rem was research director of the Lehigh Valley Chemical Co. in Easton, Penn. After his retirement, in 1979, he served in a consulting capacity for several years.

To Rem's widow, Sarah Weiger, and to his sister Langdon, we offer our deepest sympathy,
