Richard Borden ’38
DICK BORDEN, advertising director for Atlantic Refining and its successor, Atlantic Richfield, for 30 years, died Apr. 13, 1992, at home in West Chester, Penn.
He was prominent in the Philadelphia advertising community. He made his mark early as a founder of the Air Traffic reporting service, which became the Arco Go Patrol. Diehard Phillies fans will remember him as a pioneer in the sponsored televising of baseball. His community activities were numerous and included his being a founding director of Riddle Memorial Hospital in Middletown Township.
Princetonians in the Philadelphia area attest that, although he left college early in sophomore year (to marry Jim Pinckney '37's sister Janet), he never lost interest in us. His father was Class of 1889. He and Janet were gratified to see granddaughter Elizabeth (Lisa) Borden '91 graduate and grandson William '94 enter his junior year. He leaves a host of alumni inlaws and cousins. Friends and business acquaintances describe him as a true gentleman as well as energetic. We extend to Janet and her large Tiger family our sincere sympathy.
