Richard Brayton Knight ’38

Body

DICK KNIGHT, longtime owner of Livermore & Knight Co. of Rhode Island, died Dec. 28, 1991, in Palm Beach. Fla., where he had lived since 1973.

Dick came to Princeton from Phillips Exeter Academy. He majored in economics and was a Charter Club. He loved most athletics, winning numerals in soccer and golf, and he was a member of the varsity golf squad. If an intramural or club game going on, Dick was in it.

After graduation he went to work with Livermore & Knight, a printing company founded by his grandfather in 1875. He spent his working career there except for Navy service from 1942 to 45. Dick succeeded his father as president in 1952. He merged the firm and affiliates with two other firms to form Printing Corp. of America, which printed TIMELIFE Books, textbooks, and other materials. The company was sold to American Can Co. in 1968.

Dick is survived by his widow, the former Bettina George; sons Howard A., Richard D., and James A; and sisters Deborah Horton and Elizabeth Teet. They have our sincere sympathy.
