Richard Eugene Marsh ’44

Body

"RICH," TO HIS FAMILY, "Dick" to his friends, died Oct. 25, 1992, after a very courageous and dignified battle with cancer and complications from diabetes. Born in N.Y.C., Rich joined the Class from the Pawling School, majoring in economics. He was a member of Charter Club and the University band, playing a mean and enthusiastic saxophone. He left Princeton to serve three and a half years in the Army. He saw combat in the E.TO., was wounded, awarded the Purple Heart, and then discharged as a first lieutenant. Rich spent 30 years in the automobile business in Ridgewood and Wyckoff, N.J., as the owner and president of two Chrysler agencies. He and his wife, June, enjoyed their annual return to Princeton and Charter Club for football weekends. In 1976 Rich retired to Marco Island, Fla., and made a happy adjustment to boating and golf at the Marco Island C.C., until illness limited his play. He spent his last years watching a pair of American bald eagles nesting and raising their young a few yard, from his back door. A devoted father and husband, he is greatly missed by June; his three sons, Richard Jr Thomas, and William; his four grandchildren; and his friends at Princeton.
