RICHARD SEDRIC FOX EELLS, a distinguished authority on corporate philanthropy, died in New York Hospital oil Oct. 5, 1992. He was 75 years of age. Mr. Fells was born in Cashmere, Wash., spent his early years there, and earned his A.B. degree at Whitman College in Walla Walla in 1940. He came to Princeton to pursue graduate Studies in politics and in 1942 entered the U.S. Air Force. After serving in WIL, Mr. Fells went to the Library of Congress, where he rose to the rank of chief of the division of aeronautics. In 1952 he joined General Electric. As manager of public policy research at G.E., he gained recognition as an advocate of corporate funding and employee giftmatching in support of the arts. The Graduate School of Business at Columbia Univ. summoned Mr. Fells in 1960 as adjunct professor, a position he occupied until his retirement in 1985. At Columbia, he directed a program to study the modern corporation. In 1967 fie published a book entitled THE CORPORATION AND THE ARTS. He also served as a director of the ArkvilleErpf Fund, supporting publishing ventures. Mr. Fells leaves no survivors.
