Richard Graham Igrchner Jr. ’36
RICHARD, 77, A RETIRED ACTOR, died May 6, 1992, at home in Staatsburg, N.Y. A Hotchkiss graduate, he attended Princeton his freshman year.
Richard Graham was his stage name. He was best known for his roles in all 37 plays of Shakespeare's canon, including KING LEAR, four times, a rare achievement by an American actor. He acted, directed, edited programs, and supervised makeup for 12 seasons at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
In 1989, Richard played the character of Nonno in Tennessee Williams's NIGHT OF THE IGUANA at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival. His other credits include radio, television, motion pictures, summer stock, national road companies, and Broadway.
During WWII he was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Signal Corps.
Richard was married to Jane Broadfoot Schnittger in 1958. She died in 1966. He is survived by two daughters, Gretchen Graham Lange and Martha Ann Gourt, and two grandsons.
Through the years, Richard always had feelings for the Class and kept us updated on his long and successful career. He was indeed talented.
