Richard Keith Alloway ’40

LINCOLN, NEB., RESIDENT Dick Alloway died Dec. 6, 1991, from diabetes and congestive heart failure. In 1942 fie wed Elizabeth Osborne in the Princeton University Chapel. After her death fie married Harriet Lilly, who survives him, as does one son by his first marriage, Richard K. Jr., and three grandsons. Dick attended Michigan Preparatory School, where he was class president and a golfer. At Princeton fie earned high honors in economics, was a Key and Seal member, and roomed his last two years with John Aaron, Dwight Allyn, Ned Bixby, Coley Tily, and Dave Watts.

An Air Corps captain in WWII, Dick served in Panama as a meteorologist. After a period in merchandising enterprises in Lincoln, he was a private investor and stock market analyst for the subsequent 40 years. For Dick golf was foremost, and he was an active member of Lincoln's St. Mathews Episcopal Church.

Dick's enduring interest in Princeton was manifest in encouraging promising young people to seek admission. His wife, Harriet, succinctly summed up Dick's character and personality when she wrote: "[His] wonderful attributes were a keen mind, absolute integrity, and endless devotion to Princeton."
