Dick died Feb. 2, 2012, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

He came to Princeton from the Thacher School in Ojai, Calif., where he was on the soccer team. At Princeton he majored in architecture. His roommates included Bart Robbins and Jim Reppert. He was a member of Colonial Club and was on the soccer team.

After college, Dick served with the Army engineers. He then moved to Georgetown, where he lived for 50 years and worked for the National Institute on Drug Abuse. His retirement years were spent in Deer Island, Maine, where he was an avid gardener and painter and a big supporter of the Deer Island Art Association. He spent his winters in his Georgetown studio, painting Maine landscapes.

He is survived by a sister, Julie Myrick Allen, and three nephews.
