Dick died Nov. 21, 2023, in Dallas.

He came to Princeton from the Pingry School and joined Quadrangle Club, where he served as social chairman and was active in sports as well as bowling, darts, and billiards. Dick majored in biology, was varsity tennis manager, and a Keyceptor. After graduation, he proudly served in the Army, grateful for the opportunities this country had given his immigrant parents.

Dick’s business career in investment banking focused on selling institutional bonds as vice president of Bache Halsey Stuart Shields in Dallas. With him for 57 years was his wife, JoAnne White, a Penn State grad he met on a blind date in New York City. Four children joined them over the years, and they became the center of Dick’s always boisterous activity. He also was deeply involved in his church, Highland Park Presbyterian, as a fundraiser and usher, welcoming all with a gregarious smile.

Dick’s wife preceded him in death; he is survived by their son Richard Jr. ’85 and his wife Lucy ’88; daughter Nancy Lance and her husband Stephen; son David and his wife Robbin; son Doug and his wife Tricia; and eight grandchildren.
