Richard W. Kritzer Jr. ’59
Dick died of cancer on Feb. 14, 1994, in Champaign, Ill. He prepared for Princeton at the Latin School of Chicago. During freshman year, he roomed in 1901 Hall with Jack Evans and Ed Ridgeway. Dick's cousin, Roger Paulman, is also a member of the Class of '59.
Dick took his meals at Key and Seal, leaving Princeton at the end of his sophomore year. He then attended the Univ. of Illinois at Urbana, and embarked on a career in business, becoming associated with his family's company, which manufactures aluminum heat-transfer coils. He became expert in aluminum-fabrication processes.
In 1970, Dick moved to Effingham, Ill., to open and manage a new extrusion plant for his company, of which he became v.p. In the mid-1980s, Dick and his family moved to Champaign.
An avid golfer, Dick traveled several times to Scotland and Ireland to play. He served as a licensed lay reader for Sr. Laurence Episcopal Church in Effingham and was a member of the Diocese of Springfield Council.
Dick is survived by his widow, Judith Kritzer; son Matthew; daughters Gillian and Julia Love; and by his sons from previous marriages, Richard Jr. and Christopher. To all of Dick's family, the class extends its deepest sympathies.
