Robert Austin Hall ’36

AT 80, BOB DIED after a long illness May 29, 1993, at Harwich Port, Mass. He was descended from John Hall, who came to Salem (Mass.) in John Winthrop's fleet in 1630. He prepared at Ridgewood (N.J.) H.S. At Princeton, he majored in history.

Bob worked in N.Y.C. at Dun and Bradstreet and the Bank of New York before his WWII service, during which lie was a lieutenant in the navy air corps. After the war, he moved to Darien, Conn., where he was a founding member of the DarienMercara committee, engaged in an active relationship between people in the state of Mysore, India, and the residents of Darien. He was also active in St. Luke's Church, and served on the board of education for many years.

Bob was a securities investment analyst, specializing in bank and insurance stock for the Carnegie Pension Fund of U.S. Steel in N.Y.C. In 1970, he moved to the mutual fund Century Shares Trust in Boston as its managing trustee. He retired in 1978 to Cape Cod, where he enjoyed sailing and genealogical research.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yorna Elizabeth (Woolcock); children Yoma Anne Ingraham, James 0., Timothy W., and William R.; and seven grandchildren. We will remember Bob as a friendly, loyal Princetonian and classmate.
