Robert Bach ’39

Body

After a long illness, Bob died at his home in Manhattan on May 15, 1989. For three decades, he was a partner in the investment-banking firm of Wertheim and Co. Begin¬ning in 1966, he also served on the board of the Ogden Corp. Bob joined Wertheim in 1946, after having served as the skipper of LCI 623 in the Pacific during WWII. He retired in 1979. With his wife Ellen, whom he married in 1940, he actively supported a wide variety of philan¬thropic causes, particularly in the areas of health and education. Together they established the Robert and Ellen Bach Foundation, which supports hospitals and medical research.

Bob is survived by Ellen, their daughters Linda Rama¬cher and Mary, their son Andrew, three grandchildren, his sister Irene Bach, and his brother Henry '37. To them all we extend our sympathy, sharing their loss of this man who, Ellen writes, blessed and touched this world in good ways that will last forever.
