Robert C. Brooke ’22

ROBERT C. BROOKE died Dec. 22, 1992, at his winter home in Naples, Fla. His widow, Miriam, reported that he suffered cardiac arrest late in the afternoon, after they enjoyed a pleasant lunch at their local club. He was very tired in his last months, but remained in good health and was not in pain. Bob and Miriam attended the 70th reunion. They maintained a winter residence in Wyomissing, Penn., and his original home in Birdsboro, Penn., where he was buried.

Bob was born in Philadelphia in 1898. He served as an officer during WWI, prior to attending Princeton. During college, he was a member of the hockey squad and Quadrangle Club. After Princeton, he returned to Birdsboro and joined E. & G. Brooke Iron Co., where he became V.P. of sales and a director. When the company was sold, he moved to St. Louis, where he worked as a metals trader for 31 years. Bob was very active locally and served on the school board, the Episcopal Church vestry, and as president of the Lions Club. In addition to Miriam, he is survived by a son, Robert Jr. '51; a daughter, Virginia Pennypacke; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
