Robert Cornwell ’30

BOB CORNWELL DIED Dec. 6, 1991, in the Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut. He had been living in the Health Center at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury since Jan. 1991 and lost ground gradually until early December, when he fell and broke his hip. He was taken to the hospital but died before an operation could be performed.

Bob came to Princeton from the Berkshire School. During sophomore year he roomed with Hugh Carter and during senior year with Russ Carter and Phil Brownrigg. He was a member of the fencing team.

Bob was fortunate in having independent means and was able to pursue a number of independent interests. His greatest interest was amateur dramatics. He was a lifetime member of the Montclair (NJ.) Dramatic Club, reputed to be the oldest amateur drama club in the U.S.

Bob suffered from poor health during recent years and moved from Montclair, first to Heritage Village, a retirement community in Southbury, and then to Pomperaug Woods,

Bob is survived by his widow, Dorothy; two sons, Robert Jr. and John B.; a daughter, Jane Buoyer; 11 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. To them we send our deepest sympathy.
