Robert D. Goodwin ’37
Master research chemist Bob Goodwin died Dec. 6, 1994, leaving sons Reginald and Christopher and four grandchildren. Bob prepared at Riverdale School, where he was active in dramatics, the science club, and soccer. After leaving Princeton, he took a long trek through the Univ. of North Carolina, Johns Hopkins, and Yale, ending up with a Ph.D. in chemistry from Yale in 1944. Before that, he combined work for the Office of Scientific Research and Development with his graduate studies and served as an instructor in physical chemistry for the Army-Navy program at Yale.
Next came work as a research chemist with SoconyVacuum Research Laboratories, Forrestal Research Center, and Air Reduction Co. He then spent 30 years with the cryogenic engineering division of the Natl. Bureau of Standards in Boulder, Colo.
This enabled him to engage in his hobbies of cross-country skiing, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and mountain climbing. He climbed 14 mountains over 14,000 feet. We extend our condolences to his sons and grandchildren.
