Robert E. Koch ’62

He came to Princeton from the Barnard School (now Horace Mann). He was in the Woodrow Wilson School, Army ROTC, and Dial Lodge. He roomed with Al Evans and the Weinstein twins, among others.

After earning a law degree from Columbia and military service, Bob went to work for Shearman & Sterling. Recruited by Texaco, he worked there for over 25 years. Bob handled many tumultuous issues as Texaco metamorphosed from “oil-field rough” to a collegial business. At the time of his retirement, he was director of corporate governance, associate secretary, and vice president of the Texaco Foundation. He was on the boards of several professional organizations specializing in corporate governance.  

A World War II and military history buff, he read consummately, puffing a Dunhill pipe (in earlier years) and sipping a single malt whisky beside his tomcat, Biskit. While living in Manhattan, he also spent time at residences in Waccabuc, N.Y., and St. Croix, USVI.

The Class offers its condolences to Bob’s wife of 36 years, Lisa, who considers herself very fortunate to have married the only man she ever really loved.
